Citizenship and Immigration Canada is in charge of managing the investment. It is backed by the Canadian provinces that rely on it to generate new employment and support the expansion of their economies. Before a permanent residence visa may be awarded to an immigrant investor whose application has been accepted, the investor must make a financial investment within 30 days. Detailed instructions are provided by the visa office in a letter. After five years and two months, Citizenship and Immigration Canada will refund the original investment of $800,000 CAD without interest.
