Alberta, one of Canada's three Prairie Provinces, is situated in Western Canada and is part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is one of the fastest-growing provinces in the nation, and it is home to two major metropolitan centers, Calgary and Edmonton, which are all located in the province. Its terrain is diverse, ranging from towering mountains to glacial lakes, enormous boreal forests to rich plains and arid badlands, and all in between. With a diverse portfolio of natural resources that includes natural gas, crude oil, coal, minerals, and the world-famous Alberta oil sands, the province is known as Canada's energy province.
